FILE  STOMPER

It’s here! I’ve incorporated all my apps in to one amazing program- File Stomper! Built from the ground up (mainly because I misplaced my source codes for my other applications) to be more streamline with drag and drop interface with low screen space occupation.

Version 1.1.9 is out!

Major features of File Stomper:

• OWN: dropping FILES here will move them to their own individually named folders
• LEVEL DOWN: dropping things here will move them one directory down
• ICONIZE: dropping things here will searches FOLDERS for JPGs or PNGs and set them as the folder icon(500x faster than ZIA Plus app!)
• ICONIZE OPTION: extracts mp3 album art to folder if no JPGs or PNGs are found
• RENAME: dropping stuff here will search FOLDERS for Mp3 ID3 tags and rename folders in [artist] – [album] format
• RENAME OPTION: choosing this opition for RENAME will gather FOLDERS that don’t have album/artist names and move them to the ‘[]-TAG ME- []‘ folder
• SEARCH: dropping something here will search the specified site for images of the FILE/FOLDER
• SAVE: dropping an image here from a website will save it
• SAVE/ICONIZE: choosing this option will set saved image as FOLDER icon

New features in version 1.11:

• .JPG: dropping images here will save them as ‘Folder.jpg’ in the respective folder
• CLEAN UP: dropping any folders/files here will remove all empty directories
• COVERS: dropping FOLDERS here will automatically search each folder and set MP3s Album art using its Folder.jpg or ony other image if Folder.Jpg does not exist in the folder (!!!! this mean you can automatically add album art to 1000s of mp3s in seconds!)
• SAVE ALBUM ART: choosing this option will set the saved image as the mp3’s Album Art

New features in version 1.1.2:

• PROGRAM LOG: a log is generated for errors so problematic files can be quickly found.
• SAVE MODE: this mode makes saving files from online searches easier.
• VA – : Adds a ‘VA – ” to the front of folder name i.e. Various Artists

New changes in version 1.1.3:

• fixed a memory leak and possible exception between ID3 v2.2 and v2.3 picture framework in COVERS task
• made the program log temporary by removal with program exit

New changes in version 1.1.4:

• check for issues with album art and ID3 v2.4 (grrr!) before launching online album art search.

New changes in version 1.1.5:

• added access to program log and error flag.
• created two versions- public build and personal build. The personal build does not show any windows if errors are encountered- just a error flag over the ‘Log’ button.

• fixed release of files during searches
• added id3 tags for mp3 search criteria which looks like this:

• Bug fix for folder rename after adding album art
• Bug fix that froze application if ID3 2.4 mp3 loaded
• BULK ACTIONS: now FileStomper does other tasks automatically if the check box for that action is checked

• Added check all three bulk actions button for faster selection

new changes in version 1.1.9:

• Error sound: Added an error sound when writing error to LOG file. This is more useful for people using the personal edition.

Known issues: File Stomper currently only supports English language characters. File names with accents might not be recognized.

Version 1.1 Update: Mp3 Stomper now makes a text file containing the original folder name in folders where ID3v1 tags are missing.

i.e. a folder has a missing album or artist id3 tag – now you can fix these folders labeled “Unknown (TAG me!)” using the text file.

Mp3 Stomper is an little application that automatically renames your music album folders to the “Artist – Album” format based on the ID3 tag of the mp3s inside the folder.

Use: just drag and drop the music album folders in to the program and that’s it!

NOTE!!!!! This program reads the ID3 Version1 tags not ID3 Version 2 tags!

Mp3 stomper was written in VB.NET but I plan on writing a C# version of it supporting newer  ID3 tag Versions in the near future.

Removed Yahoo search..  ImageF8 now searches for album covers on Juno Downloads – for all you folks out there who rip your records.

How to use the new juno search:

Select Juno “jd” on the left

drag and drop a file with a album code in the name in to the search area in ImageF8.

Now searches file/folder names without any symbols to yield more results.

Changes:

ImageF8 now detects between a folder and a file search and changes the save format to “save to folder.jpg” and save to other formats respectively.

This fixed a bug where save to folder.jpg didn’t work.

ImageF8 or Image Fate is a quick and easy way to find images online for your files. Best of all it’s free!

How to use it:

1. Drag and drop a file in to the "Search" area and the browser will launch.
2. Drag and drop an image from your browser in to the "Save" area. That’s it!

Your image will automatically be renamed and saved to the original file’s folder.

I recommend using firefox with greasemonkey add-on.

UPDATE Version 1.1 :

I’ve added some extra options:

1. you can now search text or images.

2. added on/off option for sound

3. added on/off option for "always on top" feature

4. added option to save image as "folder.jpg" -really useful for mp3 files.

Old method:

In explorer window, click on “organize” then “folder and search options” then “view” and check “always show icons, never thumbnails”

New method:

change folder view to “List”

allow folder icons to update and then revert back to “large icons”

This works well for most folders. I use the ZIA app in “list view.”

Updated Version 1.1: removed ‘symbols’ from Google search string to yield more results.

Do more with ZIA Plus! ZIA now has integrated web search so you can search for a folder’s icon directly from ZIA! Save the image and set at folder icon!

UPDATE [Nov 20, 2009]: new version is 1.1.1 which fixed a bug that prevented the last processed folder to be moved while ZIA was open.

Drag and drop folders in to ZIA and ZIA will automatically convert and set the first image file (JPG or PNG) as the folder icon. The icons aren’t linked to your computer so they will always stay even when you move the folders to external devices i.e. USB stick.

You can use ZIA to process folder containing anything- all you need is at least one image in the folder.

NOTE for Vista/Windows 7 users:

These operating systems are strange when it comes to properly updating folder icons. This can be corrected easily by going to your explorer windows and clicking on “Organize” in the upper left hand side. Then choose “folder and search options” and click on the “view” tab. Check the box “Always show icons, never thumbnails”

You may revert back to thumbnails after vista/win7 “recognizes” the changes.

A little application that helps save images while you are browsing. Just run the application and drag and drop images from Web Pages. The files are stored on your desktop in the “Wormhole” folder.
